UK citizens urge King Charles to dissolve parliament amid growing unrest

'In these critical times, the public must hold leaders accountable'

A vocal segment of UK citizens is petitioning King Charles III to dissolve Parliament and call a general election, citing dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s Labour government.

The campaign, fuelled by concerns over proposed biometric digital IDs, immigration policies, and economic austerity, has gained traction online but lacks the legal or public support to force action.

A Change.org petition titled “Urge King Charles III to Dissolve UK Parliament and Initiate New Elections,” has garnered thousands of signatures, stating, “British culture, veterans, and pensioners are neglected while foreign aid and illegal immigration soar.”

Similarly, a UK Parliament petition, “Ask King Charles to dissolve parliament and force a general election,” argues, “In these critical times, the public must hold leaders accountable,” but remains ineligible for debate as it targets the monarchy.

On X, posts amplifying the call have gone viral. A September 27 post by @GSGB01, stating, “British citizens are calling upon King Charles to dissolve parliament and call a general election immediately,” received 12,000 likes and 1,900 reposts.

Users like @PatriotUKVoice added, “The King must act to save Britain from this tyranny.” However, the Dissolution and Calling of Parliament Act 2022 requires the Prime Minister’s request for dissolution, making unilateral royal action impossible.
