Many UK citizens are now suffering the consequences of pursuing wokeism to the extreme.

Portsmouth residents have branded Liberal Democrat-run Portsmouth City Council the ultimate Scrooge after the council threatened fines for hanging Christmas wreaths on apartment doors, reported the Daily Mail.

Hundreds of letters were sent to tenants warning that festive decorations on the outside of properties breach tenancy rules and “must be removed” or face “enforcement action” and charges. Locals were stunned that spreading Christmas cheer could land them cost money.

Tory councillor Kevin Hollinrake raged: “It is absolutely ridiculous that families are being threatened with fines simply for putting up a Christmas wreath. People should be free to celebrate Christmas without the Liberal Democrats playing Scrooge. Portsmouth City Council needs to get a grip.”

Online fury erupted, with one resident posting: “Moronic State overreach BANS Christmas wreaths from tenant’s doors… decisions like these will see you voted out.”

Another suggested flooding the council offices with donated wreaths. The council insisted it’s about fire safety, not festive hatred, claiming the rules are standard and “keep escape routes clear.”
