Liberal MP Chris d’Entremont was booed by several attendees while laying a wreath on behalf of the Government of Canada during the Remembrance Day service in Annapolis Royal on November 11, CTV News Atlantic has reported.

The incident happened at the cenotaph ceremony hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 21. Branch president Angela Amero told CTV News Atlantic the heckling was unacceptable, stating: “To those that booed Christopher d’Entremont at the service, we say shame on you. A Remembrance Day service is not one of those times or places” for political expression.

D’Entremont, who crossed the floor from the Conservatives to the Liberals earlier this month, called the booing inappropriate and said he regretted that politics entered the solemn event.

D’Entremont defected to the Liberals days after the federal budget, citing Pierre Poilievre’s leadership style. The move triggered outrage and death threats.

D’Entremont then alleged that House Leader Andrew Scheer and Whip Chris Warkentin aggressively barged into his office, forcefully "pushing" the door (nearly hitting his assistant) and allegedly yelling insults.

Conservatives denied any aggression. No assault charges were filed; the incident remains disputed.
